Tax incentives provided to encourage digital growth

Special tax incentives are provided for skilled workers in the digital industry under the Digital Free Trade Zone, said Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Irwan Serigar Abdullah.

Speaking at the launch of the Malaysia Digital Hub in Kuala Lumpur, he said the Malaysian Government wants to support the whole digital ecosystem and bring it to the next level.

Malaysia’s Budget 2017 offers the start-up community support of an ecosystem that suits the nature of their business.

It has been reported that with the implementation of Malaysia Digital Hub, start-ups can now enjoy the full benefits of the MSC Bill of Guarantees, including tax incentives.

“The economy is growing, it looks good. We must keep up. We need to move fast or else we’ll get left behind,” said Irwan.

Irwan said the Ministry of Finance projected gross domestic product growth at between 4% and 5%, and he is positive things are looking good for the country’s economic growth.
