The first of eight pre-Malaysian Indian Economic Conference (MIEC) 2012 forums was held in Klang, with more than 2,200 people attending.

The Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) said the forum was a platform for all Malaysian Indian businesses to articulate concerns and issues related to the economic domain, such as business funds, business licenses, government contracts and tenders, as well as the government procurement process in an unfiltered manner.

The MAICCI stated that a similar approach will be applied in all other upcoming forums to be held in Johor Bahru, Temerloh, Butterworth, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur, Seremban and Ipoh.

Following the eight forums and at the MIEC 2012, a blueprint on empowering the community will be presented t the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
