EPC-Summit, organised by PMCC Corporation was held at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur on the 24th – 26th June 2019. YB Baru Bian, Minister of Works showed his support as a keynote speaker for the event. The summit itself focused on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects and the rise of the fourth industrial revolution.
Today, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects are uniquely challenging. Add to that even more complexity brought on by IR4.0 and the technology that comes with and you have an industry with high barriers to entry, especially without proper management.
EPC-Summit not only delved into the developing trends and technologies within the EPC industry, but also served to break down complex topics and to provided answers to project management questions including topics like BIM, AI, Internet of Things, BlockChain, 5G and high-tech tools available in the market.
The summit brought together 250 participating industry professionals and over 20 experts enabling discussion through their BrainHuddle style of presentation which is comprehensive and impactful.
Some of the topics discussed included:
• How technology is changing the landscape of EPC Projects in South East Asia?
• Will risk factors increase and what is the impact to the project contracts?
• Can we benefit from Internet of Things in heavy duty engineering projects?
• What is the role of sustainability in EPC Projects?
• Are we ready for Industry 4.0 and when is Industry 5.0 coming?
Event-goers were also treated to a unique networking and media event experience with professional leaders from the EPC Project field from all over South East Asia. The EPC-Summit is about sharing, learning and lookout for trends and how the future will be shaped with the current and new technology.
The event included the sustainable development goals from UNGC and discussed what impact we can expect from it. Additionally, it provided advice for EPC leaders as to what will be their best leadership approach for the coming years with this industrial revolution and the new generations joining the project team.
