Pakatan Harapan leader Tun Dr. Mahathir confirms that the new Malaysian government will cancel the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Mahathir said, “There is no rolling back. It’s a cancellation,” in a press conference.

Pakatan Harapan won a simple majority of parliamentary seats in the recently concluded 14th General Election (GE14).

Therefore, the coalition can propose one of their elected Member of Parliament to the King to be sworn in as the Prime Minister.

Before GE14, abolishing the GST was a key part of Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto.
